JIND: After the controversial statement made by Madhya Pradesh BJP minister
Vijay Shah, farmers and social outfits held a protest in Uchana Kalan town of Jind district on Thursday. Later, the protest activists burnt an effigy of the BJP minister, seeking strict action against him.Notably, people across the country are angry in response to his offensive remarks against
Colonel Sophia Qureshi, who successfully led the national initiative "
Operation Sindoor."
Protest coordinator Azad Palwan demanded that the govt file a case of sedition against the minister, dismiss him from his post, arrest him, and send him to jail. He stated that the offensive comment made about Colonel Sophia Qureshi was not just a personal attack, but an insult to the army and the nation. Associating her with terrorism due to her religious identity was an attempt to spread hatred, insult the constitution, and disrupt communal harmony, he added.
“Our daughter has made us proud, but because of such disgraceful leaders, the entire nation hangs its head in shame. Today, the whole country stands firmly with our daughter. The BJP leaders have always followed a policy of divide and rule, but the people of the nation have now understood their mentality.
Even during this struggle, people have demonstrated unity and showcased a spirit of patriotism, giving a strong response to communal forces. Now, the Hindu-Muslim divide will no longer work in this country, nor will people accept it. Therefore, a case of sedition should be filed against this minister for spreading hatred among the people,” he added.
Congress MP Deepender Hooda also sought strict action against the minister and condemned his statement.
