Two men in road accident on Chennai- Bengaluru National Highway
TIRUPATTUR: Two people died when their motorcycle was hit by a speeding car at Vaniyambadi on the Chennai- Bengaluru National Highway on Monday.
The deceased have been identified as Chinnathambi and Ramu from two different villages near Vaniyambadi.
Police said Chinnathambi and Ramu, contractors specialising in erecting tents, were proceeding on a motorcycle to a village near Vaniyambadi on a business trip. When they crossed a flyover on the Chennai-Bengaluru NH, a speeding car from the opposite direction hit their two-wheeler.
The two were thrown off their bike in the impact. They sustained severe injuries and died on the spot. The car sped away.
A team from Vaniyambadi taluk police station rushed to the spot, recovered the bodies and sent them to Vaniyambadi Govt General Hospital for postmortem.
The police gathered the CCTV footage from a nearby tollgate and managed to trace the car. They have launched efforts to identify the driver and nab him.
