After a string of underwhelming films at the box office, Dileep appears to be regaining his footing with the comedy entertainer ‘Prince and Family’. The film has managed to collect Rs 8 crore worldwide within six days of its theatrical run, hinting at a modest comeback for the actor.
Day-wise earnings cross Rs 7 cr in India
According to data from the Sacnilk website, ‘Prince and Family’ has earned Rs 7.09 crore India net, while the gross collection in India also stands at Rs 8 crore, with no overseas earnings reported yet. The Malayalam film saw a gradual increase in collections over its first few days:
- Day 1 (Friday): Rs 90 lakhs
- Day 2 (Saturday): Rs 1.05 Cr
- Day 3 (Sunday): Rs 1.72 Cr
- Day 4 (Monday): Rs 1.25 Cr

The film features Dileep alongside Raniya Raanaa, Dhyan Sreenivasan, Siddique, Bindu Panicker, Johny Antony, Manju Pillai, and Josekutty Jacob. The story follows a mix of family chaos and comedy, set in a feel-good narrative aimed at the festive audience.
Can the film hold through the week?
With no major Malayalam releases clashing this week, ‘Prince and Family’ has the potential to maintain its run and inch toward a break-even point. While the film hasn’t broken records, it has certainly brought a smile back to Dileep’s fan base.
We gave the film a rating of 3 stars out of 5, and ETimes' official review reads, “The most standout thing about Dileep is Sameera Saneesh’s costumes. Otherwise, he plays that typical good guy, responsible husband, caught in 'humorous' situations. Also, the actor is a less energetic version of his old self. And, there is the mandatory allusion to his real-life situation, where Johny Antony’s character, who plays Prince’s friend, says something about how everyone will believe what they hear on social media.”
