The Baltimore Ravens are doubling down on their commitment to dominance in the run game by locking in one of the NFL’s most formidable forces—Derrick Henry—for the long haul. The franchise and the veteran running back have agreed to a landmark two-year, $30 million contract extension, $25 million of which is fully guaranteed, as first reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter. The deal sets a new benchmark in league history, making it the richest ever signed by a running back over the age of 30.

Derrick Henry posts touching message after Ravens sign him to new deal

This extension signals more than just a payday—it’s a clear vote of confidence in Henry’s enduring excellence. According to Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer, Henry will earn $14 million guaranteed in 2025 and $11 million guaranteed in 2026, with a potential payout of $12 million in 2027. With one year and $7 million remaining on his previous deal, the new agreement adds $18 million in fresh value to the contract, ensuring the bruising back remains in Baltimore at least through the 2026 season.
Henry’s performance in his first year wearing purple and black justified every penny. He racked up 1,921 rushing yards on 325 carries and found the end zone 16 times—numbers that haven’t been seen from him since his monster 2020 campaign. That season, he eclipsed 2,000 rushing yards and scored 17 touchdowns. His 2024 effort not only earned him his second All-Pro selection but also helped redefine the Ravens’ offensive identity. The 30-year-old power back expressed his appreciation to the team and its fan base shortly after news of the extension went public.
"Flockkkkkk, God is good !!" Henry wrote. "Ravens I’m appreciative & grateful for everyone apart of this great organization & a BIG S/O to all my teammates to be able to make this possible. Thank you Flock Nation for always supporting. Working as hard I can to be able to contribute to us holding up that trophy when it’s all said & done. Love, 22."Henry’s desire to win a Super Bowl is no secret, and Baltimore may be his best shot yet. Despite a decorated individual career that includes multiple rushing titles and Pro Bowl nods, the elusive championship ring still remains out of reach for the former Tennessee Titans star. With the Ravens last hoisting the Lombardi Trophy in 2013, there's a shared hunger between player and team that could make this partnership even more special. As the 2025 season approaches, all eyes will be on Henry to see if he can repeat—or even surpass—his 2024 dominance. If he does, Baltimore could finally break through their recent postseason ceiling and march toward their third Super Bowl title, with No. 22 leading the charge. Also Read: “Brain dead CTE athlete”: Josh Allen's ex-girlfriend Brittany Williams sets social media on fire with cryptic social media post
